With Christmas only a few days away, I sit here in awe of our blessings throughout 2014. This time last year we were gearing up for our first Christmas with our sweet Epic!! I'm amazed at God's perfect timing.
Leading up to getting Epic last December, Mia was on a 6 month seizure free stretch.... her longest ever!!! Looking back, Epic came into our family at just the right time. Mia's seizure free stretch broke while we were at training last December. As 2014 moved forward, her seizures continued and gradually became worse. It's heart breaking to have setbacks like this.
At the same time- Epic was getting "on the job training" and was getting better and better each month. He's been able to alert to small seizures about 5 minutes or just beforehand. Her larger seizures- he can alert up to 14 hours beforehand. We can tell what kind of seizure day we'll have depending on Epic. He will watch her like a hawk and keep looking at us, as if to say, "Keep an eye on my girl".
As the new year went on, Mia fell into a pattern of having many seizures per week. Some very intense, others not so much. But, still took their toll. Epic was by her side the whole year through.
Today marks 14 days- seizure free for Mia. Her longest stretch since early in the year! We pray that 2015 holds more seizure free days!! And we are thankful for Mia's guardian angel, Epic!! We are truly blessed!!!
