4 Paws For Mia: Day 3

Today was a full day!! Day 3 is in the books! :)

We started out by getting to the facility before class to take Epic out for some play time.

Jeremy talked to us about distractions for the dogs. They used treats, food, balls and other dogs for our dogs and it was beyond amazing to see them stay in the "down" position with so many distractions around them. We will need to continue this training for Epic with lots of practice. So he knows that he needs to "follow the rules" with us too:)

We practiced using shopping carts, strollers and wheel chairs while walking with our dogs in the "heel position". This will take a lot of practice to get comfortable. But, will get easier! We will all be pros before we know it!!

What a team!

This afternoon we learned a lot about taking care of our dogs at home. And also how to work with them in public. And we learned a lot about what to do when we bring our dog back with us to our hotel rooms which was today!!! It still feels unreal that we have a dog with us tonight!!! He already feels like part of the family!! We've been working on commands with him and letting him get to know our room and just hang out:) It's amazing how much we are getting to know his personality already!!! This is our first dog and man... we couldn't have asked for a better dog!!! He's a perfect fit!

Mia is feeling really sick:( She has a cold and it really had the best of her today. Her nose has been running non-stop and you can just tell she feels awful. She struggled through the day but got through like a champ. And at the end of the day, she cuddled up with her buddy and he even got her to giggle... made my heart melt!!

Here's to our first night as a family of 5!! (Well, make that 7 including our cats... sorry Izzy and Tyler!). That will be an interesting post when our cats meet Epic! :)
